About This Place

Located in the heart of McLean, VA, Divan Restaurant offers an exquisite journey into Persian and Mediterranean cuisine that delights the senses and warms the soul. From the moment you step inside at 1313 Old Chain Bridge Rd, you are welcomed into an elegant yet cozy ambiance that strikes the perfect balance between sophistication and comfort—ideal for both intimate dinners and lively family gatherings.

Divan’s menu reads like a love letter to Persian culinary tradition, showcasing sumptuous dishes rich in bold, aromatic flavors and authentically prepared with care. Start your experience with their renowned soups such as Soupeh Joh, a luscious cream of chicken and barley soup elevated with a drizzle of preserved lemon oil, or the aromatic Aash Reshteh, a hearty Persian noodle soup mingled with fresh herbs, beans, and garnished with sautéed garlic and mint. These soups alone are worth savoring slowly, coaxing out the depth and comfort of Persian home cooking.

The grill offerings are nothing short of spectacular. Their Koobideh—two skewers of flame-grilled ground beef kabobs served with fragrant saffron basmati rice and grilled tomatoes—are a testament to perfect seasoning and expert technique. For a more indulgent treat, the Barg, a classic Persian tenderloin kabob, melts in your mouth, each bite bursting with tender juiciness and smoky char. The Sultani Combo, combining both Barg and Koobideh, makes for an ideal sampler that highlights the best of their grill station.

Vegetable lovers and those seeking intriguing flavors will adore the Kabob Torsh, featuring pomegranate-infused marinade that offers a delightful tang, or the velvety smoky eggplant-based spread, Mirza Ghasemi, a favorite among guests. And no Persian meal would be complete without side dishes like the refreshing Salad Shirazi—a bright, minty mixture of cucumber, tomato, and onion dressed lightly with lemon and extra virgin olive oil—or the more decadent Salade Alamut with fresh arugula, walnuts, sundried dates, pickled beets, and crumbled goat cheese, kissed by a raspberry vinaigrette.

The decadence continues into dessert. Be sure not to miss the Saffron Ice Cream, an ethereal delight perfumed with precious saffron threads, or the Sweet Berry Faloodeh Pistachio Kulfi, a refreshing and textural treat that perfectly caps off the meal. For those who crave a classic finish, their Tiramisu and Baklava bring a touch of Mediterranean sweetness that rounds out the dining experience harmoniously.

What truly sets Divan apart is not only the extraordinary quality of food but the seamless pairing with an inviting atmosphere and genuinely attentive service. Guests consistently praise how the staff’s warmth and attentiveness make every visitor feel at home—whether you’re a group of seven luxuriating in a spacious booth or dining solo craving an authentic taste of Persia.

In my experience, many restaurants that have a nice ambience tend to be lacking in the quality of food—and also vice versa. This was NOT the case for Divan. The vibes AND food were equally on point. On top of that, they were able to seat our party of 7 comfortably in the booth section. I’m so glad my family had lunch here because we could laugh, converse, and savor each dish at our own leisure. The waitstaff were very attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to try authentic Persian cuisine in Northern Virginia.

We really enjoyed the traditional eggplant spread. The smoky eggplant spread was also good, but if we could only choose one, then the traditional eggplant spread was the best. The duck fesenjan dish was flavorful. The bread coming with the eggplant spread was also delicious. Highly recommend!

One of the best Persian restaurants I’ve ever been to in North America! I’ve tried many Persian restaurants over the years, but Divan truly stands out. From the moment you walk in, the staff are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive you just feel taken care of. And let’s talk about the soup, WOW. Honestly, it was the best soup I’ve ever had. The quality of the food is outstanding, everything tastes fresh and well-balanced, and the whole dining experience feels elevated. The restaurant itself is beautiful too cozy, stylish, and perfect for enjoying a nice meal. If you’re looking for an amazing Persian dining experience, I highly recommend Divan. Totally worth it!

Everything we ate at Divan was perfectly cooked with amazing flavors. This place makes the best kabobs I've had in the DMV area and I am an expert eating kabobs my whole life. You have to try the Kabob Torsh if you like pomegranate flavors. The filet barg is a must! Beautiful presentation. Ask for Raim for your server...he was great.

As someone who’s a Turkish and Iranian mix, I can confidently say Divan serves some of the most authentic and delicious Persian food I’ve had in the U.S.! The flavors took me right back home — perfectly cooked kebabs, fragrant rice, and beautifully balanced stews. The atmosphere is elegant but still cozy, and the staff are genuinely welcoming and attentive. Our waiter, Rahim, was especially kind and made the experience even better. ???????????????????????????????? If you’re craving real Persian cuisine with great quality and presentation, Divan is the place to go. Highly recommended for both Iranians missing home and anyone who wants to experience true Persian hospitality and flavor.

We really enjoyed our lunch at Divan restaurant. Our best first impression of greatness was delivered by our Turkish waiter, he is phenomenal, making you feel that he is your best friend. The food was excellent as well. Real humus, so light and creamy very much different than you ever eat at a regular place. All starters were really good with the main course as well. Filet mignon was perfectly seasoned, tender and juicy. I don't care much of desert and the tiramisu was just okay.

Legit the best food that's ever been in my mouth. I've had grape leaves before but the ones here were sent from the heavens. The tahdig made me so happy I wanted to hug everyone in the world. Service is unparalleled. 5 stars is too low of a rating. 100 stars!!!

I can’t emphasize enough how delicious the food is at this Persian restaurant. Every dish is full of authentic flavor, beautifully presented, and perfectly prepared. The ambiance is cozy yet classy—an ideal combination for both casual dining and special occasions. The service is equally impressive—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. As a Persian surgeon living in Virginia, I truly appreciate the authenticity and quality they bring to every meal. This is, without a doubt, one of the finest Persian dining experiences I’ve had outside of Iran. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates refined Persian cuisine and exceptional hospitality. Nasser,
